Our popular pre-Christmas day excursion this year runs from Hastings via Battle, Etchingham, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, Orpington, Bromley South and Clapham Junction.
Our destination is The historic city of Salisbury, whose Cathedral is the second-tallest in Europe with the tip of its spire 404 feet above the ground. There are many other interesting parts of the city which will be easy to explore in the time available.
For those who wish to spend their time Christmas shopping in fresh surroundings, there is a large open market in the centre of the city, with the shopping centre nearby. As we expect to spend about four hours in Salisbury, there will be plenty of time to search for presents, or to pick up those unexpected bargains!
We are particularly proud of the party atmosphere on our excursions at this time of the year, and this will be complemented by Christmas decorations on the train, with mince pie and wine for all our passengers on the way home.
These are the final timings, as received from EWS and Railtrack. Some of these are about half an hour earlier than the provisional times previously published, but these do allow for more time to spend in Salisbury. Platform numbers may be subject to late alteration; please confirm prior to departure.

For travel to Salisbury and back from stations listed above, Hastings to Bromley South inclusive, the standard fare is £37, or £140 for a bay of 4 seats; the Club Class fare is £52. If you are joining at Clapham Junction, fares are £32 (standard), £120 (bay of four) or £47 (Club Class). There is a £5 supplement for travelling in either power car (see below).
Travel at a seat with a table, and refreshments are provided throughout the trip plus a meal with wine on the way home. Why not spoil yourself! Travel is likely to be in a DEMU trailer coach, or an additional £5 assures travel in Tunbridge Wells power car.
A £5 supplement should be added to individual (not bay) fares for travel in power cars: Tunbridge Wells (Club Class), or Hastings (standard seating). Capacity is limited.
Our train includes a Buffet Car; a selection of hot and cold snacks and drinks will be available throughout the trip at a reasonable price. There is also a trolley service.
Smoking is not permitted in any part of our train.
The train is now basically full. There is one Club Class seat remaining vacant in motor coach Tunbridge Wells. One standard seat is available in each of motor coach Hastings and the CEP trailer. We would be prepared to sell tickets for only a further 3 seats in the Buffet Car. […]
